Urban Policy
In 2014, The School of Public Policy embarked on a major program in urban policy. Focusing on the economic and political arenas, the Urban Policy program explores key issues that impact urban Canada as well as the spatial and governmental arenas in which these issues unfold.
A significant aspect of the Urban Policy program is to understand the public policy issues that are relevant to mid-sized cities and metropolitan areas, especially those with a population of 500,000 to 2,000,000 such as Calgary, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Kitchener-Waterloo and Ottawa.
Each year symposia are held in Toronto (spring) and Calgary (fall) with program research designed to respond to the themes explored there – providing urban policymakers with original, in-depth and impartial research.
